Our Nurses

Tammy Banks

Tammy has been with MVVS since 2001 and is the head of the nursing team. Amongst her many roles at MVVS are secretarial work as well as reception & surgical nursing.

Tammy is a committed mother who has managed to balance returning to work with mothering her three beautiful children Claudia, Cooper, and Ava. She is married to Michael & has a boxer dog named Wallace.

 

Madison Kelsey

Madison is our newest team member, joining us in early 2016. Madison became a fully qualified veterinary nurse in 2015, doing her training at pacific vetcare in coffs harbour.

Madison enjoys all aspects of veterinary nursing & her happy manor is always welcoming at the front counter.

Madisons interests outside of work include Photography, visiting new places and the beach.
 

Jessica Smith

Jess started as a volunteer 1 day a week at MVVS when she was studying animal care, after completing this course she began her nursing traineeship in 2010. She is a local girl who became a fully qualified veterinary nurse in 2013.

Jess and her partner Dave live up the river with their 3 furry friends Bindi the Shar Pei, Callie the Belgian Shepherd and Catacus the cat.
 

Jessica Calleja

Jess is Macleay local, born and breed down river. She started work at MVVS in Mid-2014 after completeing her veterinary nursing qualifications with Wauchope Vets in 2013. Jess took a 6 month hiatus from vet nursing and went cotton picking in northern NSW and Queensland before coming back home to work for MVVS

Jess lives locally now and helps out on the family dairy farm, she spends her spare time trying to keep her two mischeivious dogs Lizzy the DalmationX and Maisey the Coolie X out of trouble.

Karen Fuller

Karen is the office secretary at South West Rocks as well as an accomplished animal nurse.

Karen is a former president of the local Kennel Club. She has a particular interest in Irish Setters, which she breeds. She has a wide range of animals on her local property.

 

Cathie Robinson

Cathie began working part time at MVVS in 2009 and has become an integral part of our nursing team. Cathie worked in an animal referral Centre in Sydney many years ago and has fitted in well to our surgical nursing team.

Cathie balances her time between working here at MVVS and helping to manage her son Joe's international music career as well as the many other up and coming musicians in her Temagog brood.

Ruth Blackwell

Ruth is the original nurse from the John Street Practice. She now works part time due to her family commitments, with daughter Clare & son Tim demanding much of her time.

Ruth loves Rhodesian Ridgebacks, and andalusions. Currently she has 2 Chihuahuas, a ridgeback, a Louisiana Catahoula Leopard dog, a few overweight horses & livestock at her local property.

Sheriden Wicks

Sheriden began working at MVVS after school as a kennel hand in 2012. After completing his HSC in 2013, he began a traineeship in equine reproduction at the 'Mid North Coast Equine Reproduction Centre,' where he assits Andrew with horse management and equine reproduction programs. 

Karen Bennett

Besides being one of the owners of the Practice & being responsible for “the old boy”, Karen is the staff welfare officer. She has the uncanny knack of producing morale boosting support whenever the need arises.

Karen is a qualified teacher & works 4 days a week at a local high school. In addition she manages to juggle time for MVVS commitments, as well as keeping the Bennett family clothed & fed. Most importantly she has the enormous task of driving the two Bennett children Jack & Sheriden to a mass of after school & weekend activities.

Nicole Edwards

Nicole started work at MVVS as a nurse after finishing school in 2004 during her gap year. She went to university in Newcastle and worked weekends at MVVS while she became a qualified teacher. She teaches kindergarten at St Joseph's in Kempsey and balances motherhood, teaching and filling gaps in the roster at MVVS.
